What is there not to like about about a slick play thats been made into a slick film and gone on to become a classic piece of British Cinema? I believe Noel Cowards advice to the director was 'just shoot the script' which with the exception of a few external shots and Mme Arcatis house he did. As outlandish as the plot seems at first there is a logic in the proceedings and like all good plots it is character driven ( if you look close enough). Even if you find it hard to get beyond the lurid green make-up and the Hammer House of Horror nailpolish and lipstick it's still a clever piece of writing, hums along, provides a few good laughs and to be honest why be ashamed just to sit and watch something that is entertaining? And at 90 mins just long enough.
