It's time to start paying attention to the oeuvre of German director Uwe Boll
this film is based on the game series of the same name however unlike the games this film shouldn't really of been made, uwe boll with the unsuccess of his other films still continues to make them and this project was one of them. poor acting, bad effects and no plot this film should only be watched if ultimately bored and want a laugh at how poor it is......
This action-horror film is set in ancient Romania & two of the sexiest stars Kristanna Loken as Rayne (half-human/half-vampire), Michelle Rodriguez as part trio of Vampire Hunters also includes Michael Madsen & Matthew Davise all sworn to kill Rayne's evil tyrant vampire father (Ben Kingsley).
This film offers a lot of blood, gore & nudity. Like modern vamp stories it has all its swords, chained breasts, severed heads & gushing arteries you can want!
with the list of known actors I thought that this might have been a fairly solid romp... what happened? The story was drab, the action half-hearted and the actors seemingly sleepwalking through their lines.
What on earth could have persuaded these actors to commit to this film?

This is the most boring, unsexiest vampire film i have ever seen(and i've even watched 'interview with a vampire') :D

With this cast list you would have expected a lot more, but sadly this film is rubbish.
The acting bearly holds together, the fight scenes are very poorly done, and the special effects aint that good either (every person getting slashed with a sword ends out a jet of blood).
One redeeming quality is Kristanna Loker as eye candy (if you can ignore everything else).
How can a director get away with wasting an opportunity to make a great film???
With the director making a mockery out of almost everything he's made I didn't have much hope for this. But it turned out to be not that bad. Infact I might go as far as saying I actually enjoyed it!
Won't be anybodies favourite movie or get the grey matter churning away, buts its a good movie just to sit back and watch in the same vein as Blade.
an enjoyable romp with the added bonus of nudity from kristanna loken.Could of done with a bigger budget and a tighter script ,the effects could of been better but it is basically a vampire flick if you like those you'll like this - nuff said!
i love the computer game so when i heard they had made the film i had to see. its got to be one of the best cross over films ive seen in ages well worth a night in with a dvd so rent it

Im a fan of the bloodrayne games and though this could be a rather interesting film, but seem very basic as far as films no, very little action, terrible acting but least some good effects and a little boob every now and again made this film a little better.
only get this dvd if your bored and wanna waste some time.
I'm surprised this took so long to be released onto DVD in the UK - I've had the English language version released in Thailand for a couple of years now (and a fraction of the price, even with postage, than any UK DVD release!). I originally got it because it headlined Kristanna Loken (who had played the bad terminator in Terminator 3) and didn't know anything about the game. As such, I had no prior expectations and I found the movie OK to watch, a bit slow in places but infinitely better than the BloodRayne II, also available on DVD. I can't comment on any extras - the Thai version comes in a nice presentation box and there are many extras on the disk.
