Feature version of the Japanese anime series, set in the year 2031, when humanity has been replaced as the dominant species on Earth by the evil, insectoid race of the 'Blue'. The remains of the human race have sought refuge in outer space. Young Yuji Kaido has been in suspended animation for 22 years, before the Blue arrived on Earth, in an attempt to halt the progress of a terminal disease. Revived when the Earth authorities launch an attempt to rescue all humans left on the planet, Yuji meets Marlene Angel, his rescuer. But before they can get back to the space station that orbits Earth, the Blue launch a surprise attack, with only Yuji, Marlene, and two others surviving. As it gradually becomes clear that Yuji's genes hold the clue to humanity's survival, the team must make their way across a dangerous expanse in order to get home.

Make no mistake this is a violent and dark cartoon/film lots of blood and guts

Does seem to have captured the highlights from the series. Id say if you watched the series dont bother with this but if you havent and just want to see a good gorey sci fi then give this a try.
