Excellent mix of old and new tunes
By RV from St. Albans, England , 16 Dec 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Great show recorded by MTV in 1994. No extras on the DVD, but the sound quality is terrific, and Dylan's in fine voice.
The tracklist is:
Tombstone Blues
Shooting Star
All Along the Watchtower
The Times They Are A-Changin'
John Brown
Desolation Row
Rainy Day Women #12 & #35
Love Minus Zero/No Limit
Dignity
Knockin' on Heaven's Door
Like a Rolling Stone

Customer Review
By a customer from UK , 23 Jun 2008It hardly needs saying that Bob Dylan is an absolute genius, and has more talent than most of us can even imagine.
So it is with a certain hesitency that I criticise this DVD. But I have to. My theory is he was having a bit of an off night. And he was definitely not happy with that mike stand. So his mind, and his playing, and most of all his phrasing, starts to go all over the place.
The other guy playing guitar is doing a display of perfect chord foramation and rhythm, and Bobs just plucking around here and there way down the fretboard (with his guitar way down in the mix). The phrasing goes really awray in "All along the watchtower", which is unfortunate as the essence of this song its its tight rhythmic structure. First Bob fiddles with that mike, and then two lines come tumbling out all at once. And while the other guitarist ticks over the familiar chord sequence, Bob is fiddlng about.
So, who am I to critise genius. After all, its Bob's own amazing songs to which he's not quite doing justice. But this could have been better.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dreadful
By headandheart (20 reviews) from Wiltshire , 14 Aug 2005A master class in how to ruin your own back catalogue. And what happened to his voice? No longer sand and glue, more like cement. Perhaps he should have been satisfied with being a living legend rather than a self parody. Oh dear.- Was this review helpful to you?

watch it!
By a customer from london , 08 Jul 2005obviously all dylan fans must watch this.
if you're reading this and you haven't listened to dylan, can take this space to say WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE? run and get all his albums.
and watch this. age has not withered him (ok, it has but it doesn't matter), and he's still the greatest poet and the greatest singer of the century. its a string of highlights, chosen to appeal the awful mtv audience -so you've got desolation row, visions of johanna, just like a woman etc.
he is carefully presented as an icon, with shades and polka dot shirt.
one of the best dvds on dylan. note -could we have release date for dont look back please??- Was this review helpful to you?

Enjoy ...
By croz from Berkshire , 22 Jun 2005Because there are few opportunities to see Bob in quality DVD performance. Apparently there is at least another hour of recorded material from this MTV session - although none of it has been released on either Video, DVD or CD.
Perhaps a campaign should be mounted.
The Madsison Square Garden concert - 16 October 1992 -which celebrated the "occasion of his 30th aniversary of recording" (to quote the CD sleeve notes) was released on Video in the US in the mid 90's - but so far has not been released in the UK, as far as I can tell, on either video or DVD (and maybe not even on CD). Another grave omission - check out the cd if you can - a guest list "to die for" ...and a version of "Don't think twice" by Clapton with Booker T that will blow your speakers ....and Bob ain't bad either....- Was this review helpful to you?
