    [Highly rated reviewer]

This much maligned romantic comedy is neither Hollywood nor Bollywood although it aims to be both.

Indeed the title has nothing to do with the plot but very much with the concept. Our leading man (a sort of Indian Nicholas Cage type) a Toronto based dotcom millionaire, having outraged his traditional Indian family by dating a white pop singer (who promptly dies in a freak accident) is given an ultimatum by his kin - either marry a nice Indian girl or his sister's wedding must be postponed (not clear why) although nobody other than she is aware of her pregnant condition. Having rejected a host of suitable candidates proposed by his despairing mother he chances upon Sue, a Hispanic looking 'escort' girl in a bar and enters into a deal where she will pose as his fiancee until Sis is finally wed. He and his cross-dressing chauffeur must set about training Sue in the ways of Indian tradition.

The script borrows liberally from both the superior PRETTY WOMAN and that clunker THE BACHELOR and by throwing in some Bollywood dance routines makes for a very lighthearted, utterly daft, feelgood movie.

The cast has a few genuine Bollywood players but the rest (both Indian or otherwise are Canadian). This is one of a number of recent Bollywood wannabes set outside India and whist not as accomplished as BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM it is a vast improvement on THE GURU.

  • strange film really

Not sure what to think about this film. It was mildly entertaining whilst at the same time being excrutiatingly cringe-making. None of it actually made any sense...the music was quite bad, the dancing ...ditto

The stars were fine but were given second-rate scripts to work with

I thought this movie was very good in the respect of its gentle humour. The story line could have been a bit stronger but all in all not a bad movie ,one i would put in to my 'sunday afternoon' rating.

i thought this film was lacking a lot.. frankly it was quite boring.. they tried to make it humorous but the storyline was rubbish and it just dragged on.. i would only recommend it if there was nothing else to watch
