Will make you jump out your skin.
i went to the cinema to watch this movie and was quite suprised on how gripping and entertaining it was. the storyline was reasonable and the acting was good. this film would have been given a better rating if they would have just left the 'boogeyman' to the viewers imagination, instead of some poor computer generated image. o well overall quite good and well worth watching!
If you like jumps you will love this movie.
I was looking forward to this film after seeing the promos when it first come out and I must say the wait was not worth it. The film is crap !!! crap story, crap actors, crap score, crap directing. I think I jumped once in this film, the rest of the time I was falling asleep as it was so slow moving. If you want a jumpy film rent The Grudge or Ring as these are far superior films.
Oh dear. I had hoped that the influence of Japanese horror and various independent efforts would have consigned this sort of formulaic rubbish to the scrap heap of movie history, but apparently not. I am not inclined to waste too much breath on this pathetic excuse for a film, but suffice it to say that we spent more time laughing than hiding behind the sofa. Don't waste your time, seriously. You could do valuable work for charity in the hour and a half it takes to watch this load of drivel.
This film starts off quite well, then follows no direction. Several things in the film are not clear and never are.
The story is quite good but doesnt go any where and the end doesnt explain enough.
Long entrance with the end lasing a few minutes.
Would really give it a miss, not worth renting

This is the latest in a long line of dissapointing, supposed 'horror' films. It is simlilar in quality to Cabin Fever, Jeepers Creepers and any of the recent (last 5 years) teen horrors.
Firstly any film that is a 15 Cert is going to struggle to scare anyone over 13, secondly there is a difference between scaring and making you jump, a car backfiring will make you jump but scare you it will not.
I really would like to find a well scripted genuinely scary horror - sadly this is not it.
Do watch the alternate ending though as I preferred it to the one used - although there is something very odd about the final few seconds of the scene and the way it was filmed/edited - watch it and you'll see what I mean.
If you are easily made to jump and under 16 then give it a go - the rest of you - forget it.
On a story basis it does have more holes in it than a tramp's vest and doesn't effectively explain anything - the jump from past to present is also a very large one with nothing done to fill in the interim period.
The more I think about it , the more this film disappoints.
Yawn. The best bit of this film is watching the closing credits. After a reasonable opening Boogeyman slows to a painfully slow pace making it hard to maintain interest and stay awake! The are a few jumpy moments but by and large they are the usual lazy sort that have been seen and experienced in much better films in this genre. By the rather poor end I neither cared who or what the Boogeyman was nor what happened to the lead character. Avoid unless you need a cure for your insomnia.
Definitely one of those films that is better when you haven't seen what's chasing you!
The film nicely builds up quite a lot of suspense early doors but then causes quite a lot of frustration with the old "why on earth would you do that?" syndrome. I know it's a horror film, and i'm usually the first man to suspend belief for the benefit of a good story but this goes a teensey bit too far.
Saying that it seems to be done fairly competently and i've seen a whole lot of much worse films. Can't say that i was too keen on the CGG used in the final few scenes either but that seems to be the way things are going these days.
I sound a bit negative but i'd still give it a go.
To be fair, the film starts off fairly well. It's fairly creepy at points and does make you jump on the odd occassion, without ever being overly scary. However, it goes down hill rapidly towards the end and becomes almost laughable, especially once you see the Boogeyman, possible the least scary character ever. All the film's good work at building the suspense is totally lost at this point. Almost to the stage that you feel as if you've wasted an hour and a half of your time!
this type of movie has been done so many times before, i must say they did a good job, full of fright.

I could not follow the film at all, it made no sense!! Not even the cool monster at the end could save this from being the most disapointing horror film of the year.
Will make you jump out your skin.
