    [Highly rated reviewer]

I watched this first on BBC and have to congratulate the BBC, the cast and writers for giving us such a well written, acted and thought out family show. Beautiful and brilliant, it is a reminder of what television can really offer at its best.

Well thought out, written and superbly acted series about a 1950's Lancashire community centred around a village GP practice and country hospital.

    BBC at its very best!
