Brahms, Mozart And Beethoven 'Coriolan Oveture'

Carlos Kleiber was perhaps the most highly regarded conductor of the late 20th century, but his relatively few excursions into the studio have left the musical world with a frustratingly small number of recordings. Thus we are particularly fortunate that, from among the relatively few appearances in his career, several concerts, one operetta and two operas were filmed. This concert with the Bayerisches Stattorchester from Munich's Herkulessaal in October 1996 was one of his last.

The hallmarks of Kleiber's direction - his minimal but poetic gestures, his utter command of the score, plus his hypnotic hold over the orchestra - are all clearly evident in this invaluable DVD document, which has never been available before in any format. A unique testimonial to one of the greatest artists of recent times.

Including the following symphonies:

Overture "Coriolan", op. 62 by Ludwig Van Beethoven
Symphony Nr. 33 B-dur, KV 319 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Symphonie Nr. 4 in E minor, op. 98

Starring Carlos Kleiber, Bayerisches Staatsorchester
