  • Outstanding

Don't be put off by the cycling pictures and references that accompany the marketing of this film. It is not about cycling. That is only incidental. It is a very good rights-of-passage film involving love, frienship and class divisions. With a neat portrayal of the way we learn lessons from life. Very well acted, moving and funny. Interesting characters and very original.

I notice that Halliwells film guide, incredibly, only gave it 1 star. You should know that Radio Times Guide to Films gave it 4 stars

  • Short shorts... and not about cycling

This is an enjoyable film. Not sure it should be rated as one of the most inspiring movies, but quite fun and funny in parts. Completely devoid of sex, swearing and graphic violence. But with some truly shocking 1970's fashion and hair cuts. The most unconvincing sections were the cycle races...

  • Original and best Cycling movie

There is no other Cycling movies that beat this one.

This is the original and best.

If your a cyclist then why haven't you already seen this movie??

If your not a cyclist, well theres loads of cycling but the plot is a good one and i think most people who like dramas will still like this film.

    Wonderful movie

  • Good albeit a bit dated and naive...

I thought this was good albeit being a bit dated and naive.

Basically an uplifting, pleasant basic film although (as mentioned above) I think many may find it a bit too dated and naive - however, if you go back to 1979 it was a lot more like depicted anyway!

Overall recommended if you go in expecting and accepting the above etc.

  • Adolescence brilliantly captured

Oh the difficulty of being adolescent, and the occasional glory when things go right! The sound quality of our disc was appalling, but even so the movie was the epitome of feelgood. We really liked it.

  • Worth a watch

Although this film is a litle dated now it still has an innocence about it which is endearing. Its your classic underdog story, a little contrived in places but still leaves you with a warm feeling. Worth a watch.
