An over-optimistic title for Scottish director Bill Forsyth, making his second attempt at a Hollywood breakthrough after the British success of Gregory's Girl and Local Hero. Burt Reynolds, as an ageing burglar teaching his skills to a younger man (Casey Siemaszko), suits the humorous style, but John Sayles's script stresses mildness at the expense of momentum. The resulting shaggy-dog story possesses a measure of charm, but more bite would have helped.
