Gentle movie---Reynolds terrific!
By George Hughes from Clackmannanshire, Scotland. , 19 Aug 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Enjoyable, quirky comedy concerning ageing criminal[Burt Reynolds] becoming mentor to novice[Casey Siemaszko] and teaching him about life as well as his 'career'.
Good script by John Sayles and nicely directed by Bill Forsyth.Burt Reynolds excels in one of his best roles and is well supported by character players Albert Salmi and Harry Carey Jr.Maury Chakin, who came into his own on t.v. in 2001 as Nero Wolfe, also shines.- Was this review helpful to you?

(2)Burt coasts along
By Cato (705 reviews) from Lydbury North , 01 Mar 2007Burt Reynolds coasts through this watchable effort, in which he has to play an older man and so affects a limp to show that his knees are wearing out. The pace is leisurely as he shows a younger man how to thieve from a number of properties in thie unnamed city in which the film is set. It'a a sort of morality play for, as Burt stresses to his accomplice, 'possessions weigh you down' as Casey Siemaszko slides to his inexorable fate.- Was this review helpful to you?
