    A Hammer Great

Back in the day when they were still producing greats like 'Dracula' and 'Curse of Frankenstein', 'Brides of Dracula' is a superb continuation of the vampire series and doesn't even need Christopher Lee to succeed.

Like most of the earlier Hammer Horror pictures, this one is sumptuous with the kind of quality control that dross like 'Horror of Frankenstein' never achieves. Cushing is as wonderful as ever, turning in a nicely understated performance and the early scenes in the castle are notably disquieting.
