Poetic justice
By a customer from Cambridge , 03 Nov 2009[Highly rated reviewer]
Bright Star's romantic narrative has a hypnotic quality which benefits from Campion's attention to detail in its natural settings and historical context. Wholly credible, Keats' and Brawne's relationship blossoms at a steady pace which allows the viewer to savour the dialogue and cinematography in the same vein as a reader would discern the finer points of great poetry.
This is a rare insight into the musings of two poets and the position they assumed in early nineteenth century society. It ably demonstrates why Keats' poetry has stood the test of time and pays tribute to Fanny's role in fulfilling his potential.- Was this review helpful to you?

(110)Slowly does it
By 663322 (37 reviews) , 15 May 2013This is not a true historic film but it is a story which wants to look pretty. It was more of a whine a minute than a thrill a second. It took a long time for the actors to grow slower. The storyline was too weak to be thoughtful.- Was this review helpful to you?

not very good
By a customer , 09 Dec 2012It's not very good and says it's set in 1818 but then suddenly a modern umbrella is taken out of fanny's hand?- Was this review helpful to you?

Beautiful, recommended.
By Lesinlondon (14 reviews) , 22 Apr 2012Beautiful film. Abbie and Ben were very good, particularly Abbie. A film and story that is allowed to take its own pace, not rushed, and carries the viewer along in a story of love and devotion, especially on the part of Fanny towards John. I enjoyed the cinematography too.- Was this review helpful to you?

A Romantic gem
By Jonnybc (6 reviews) from Cornwall , 20 Dec 2011A beautifully crafted film about one of the great Romantic poets. Convincing sets, costumes and music. Good performances all round, especially from Ben Whishaw as Keats. Worth a look if you like historical dramas or if you have an interest in the life and works of John Keats.- Was this review helpful to you?
