Hugely over rated and BORING!!

Yeah yeah, very pretty film. Sure, nice to see a sensitive portrayal of a gay relationship, but this was one of the most boring and slow moving films I have ever seen.
HUGELY over rated, and Heath Ledger's mumbling performance irratated me like mad!
Rent Ang Lee's The Wedding Banquet instead. Much more enjoyable and touching look at a gay relationship.

By a customer , 13 May 2013This is a truly beautiful movie if you look for the right things. If you look at the case of two men cheating on their wives, you're looking at this the wrong way. It is about two men's love for each other in a world where they are taught so indefinitely that it is wrong - and both of the men in response to that marry women whom they do not love and have kids. Yes, that is a sad state of affairs. But it is a love story about these two men and their individual baggage. It will have you in tears as it did me, a beautiful masterpiece. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a two hour film about two men in a tent. It is a love story that had me crying for the whole of the last forty minutes. I can see now why this film was such a success at the box office, obtained such a cult following and was given many many awards. The writing and screenplay is incredible. It is one of my favourite movies now.- Was this review helpful to you?

A Beautiful Film

Having learned that it was written by Annie Proux, I wasn't surprised that the story was by a woman, it had the sensibility and in a sense the view of a woman writing about men. As a film it was I thought beautifully constructed, with a director at the top of his form and acting from a cast of very fine actors. Heath Ledger is sorely missed, he would have become one of the greats. A film of beauty.- Was this review helpful to you?
