Good story - good acting - good movie
By ThomasKus (147 reviews) from Gloucester , 24 Nov 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Two young American women make a life changing trip to Thailand - this is all I will say about a good story that you should discover yourself...
In many respects this looks like a rather small film but like any really good piece of film making it's the story telling that makes up for any big budget. This one will hold you right from the start whre the seemingly idyllic life always feels threatened and 'too good to be true'. Add to this excellent acting and a tight direction that keeps you guessing about where the story is going and you have a guaranteed good evening in.
One of the other reviewers appears to have watched this for the 'pretty girls' and I would just like to make it clear that this is not a sleazy film and that the two main actresses are playing excellent character roles.
This is a good choice allraound - enough 'action' for the boys, enough 'girl power' for the girls and a good and intelligent storyline for everyone. What are you waiting for?- Was this review helpful to you?

A Good Movie Well Acted
By a customer , 04 Jun 2011I've yet to see a bad movie with Kate Beckinsale in the cast ... and after watching this I can safely say that statement remains intact. Both Beckinsale and Danes were quite outstanding. With regard to the storyline, I anticipated that we would see what happened to 'Alice' come the end of the movie. I really began to believe that the movie was based on fact which says a lot for Beckinsale and Danes' acting to say nothing of the scriptwriting. Well recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

it could be you!
By GraduateSarah (1 review) from Weston-super-Mare , 03 Oct 2009Really good film, couldk decide whether or not any one was guilty until the end and makes you realise how awful it is in those jails and how important it is to be careful when traveling. A good drama, really enjoyable entertiament and good acting. Didnt drag like smilar films and was to the point and moving- Was this review helpful to you?

Predictable
By mad4movies (12 reviews) from Walsall , 01 Jun 2009Such a shame, I was really looking forward to this film as I love both actresses. However, the material they had to work with was poor. It was just so predictable and mind numbing to watch. I have seen the same thing a thousand times and not one of these stories comes close to Midnight Express.- Was this review helpful to you?

Passable entertainment
By a customer from Surrey , 04 Jan 2008Interesting story of a frightening drugs scam that affects two innocent (though not very likable) teenage plus American girls on a post graduation holiday to Thailand. More could have been made of the race to prove their innocence as it got quite gripping in parts although it was never made totally clear if they knew they were mules are were totally dupped. Ending was weak and a bit implausible, a cop out as other reviewers have hinted at.- Was this review helpful to you?
