It's not often you see such a domestic vision of one of the politically charged environments in the world. This is an incredibly poignant and moving drama about the live of a single-mother, whose husband has died and her children set against the tough everyday life of modern day Israel. What is remarkable about the film though, besides some excellent performances, is the fact that it absolutely ignores the politics of the country and just gives us a picture of life as people live it. Mike Leigh and Ken Loach lovers would definitely like relate and enjoy.

  • A family in crises.

The acting is excellent and I was drawn in to the family in crises and became emotionally engaged. I also found it fascinating to view a film set in Haifa Israel based on day to day life. There was no political overtone apart from a universal theme of how hard it can be for a lone parent to go out to work and care for a family and to also deal with bereavement.

  • Very sad and moving

This film is slow and you have to be able to bear with it. If you do, you really start feeling the sadness and shock that the main characters do. Whether you want this on a Friday night is up to you!!!

loved this film. but I wouldn't recommend for everyone one. it's almost like you have to have an extra sense. the film is so beautiful and so sensitive, you have to read between the lines of what they are saying and doing.

my favorite scene is when she hears herself sing the song she wrote to her dad.

amazing! one of my favorite movies!

  • Worth watching!!!

Regarding someone's comment below about subtitles - it isn't dubbed over. You have the choice to watch it in Hebrew with English subtitles - afterall it IS an Israeli film!!! You also have the choice to watch it in dubbed English. Better to have subtitles if you ask me and keep it in the language it's supposed to be in! People shouldn't complain about foreign films being subtitled or dubbed - what do you expect!!! Not everything in the world can be filmed in English you know! Anyway, well worth watching!!!!!
