    [Highly rated reviewer]

I was almost reluctant to try this film as the director's other work includes 'fear & loathing in Las Vegas'which,if I remember rightly was just a bit too mad for my tastes.

Nevertheless,I gave it a go & was pleasantly surprised (apart from the standard of music played by the 'twins' -awful!).

It takes a while for the innovative style of the 'mockumentary' to sink in,but once my brain had processed this,I started to enjoy the film.In fact,in parts the film was a tad riveting as you witness the twins changing from country bumpkin loners to embracing all the excesses of the music business. It also had its 'what's going on in this bit?'moments, but the sense of doom instilled in to the film was cleverly done.

Certainly worth a go if you like your music 'madness' flicks.

If you shoot a documentary (or a mock-documentary), you have to make sure that you have an interesting story to tell. In case of this film, an interesting storyline is non-existent. Yeah, they form the band, and then what? For most of the time they hang out in their living room/rehearsal space cursing at each other. It's almost as if someone left a camera running at the party in student halls of residence.

Apart from boring script and dreadful acting, another one of this film's many faults is that the production crew didn't get the period details (1970's clothes, haircuts, etc) right at all. And the songs of the band are just unlistenable.

I don't know why great Ken Russell agreed to be associated with this piece of crap.

Don't waste your time on 'Brothers.. If you're into 1970's Glam vibe, watch 'Velvet Goldmine' or 'Breakfast on Pluto' instead.

Ah terrible! Crap music and predicatable storyline. Bad taste and pretentious. Having said that the 'twins' acting was compelling with so much emotion in a glance, lots of moments of intrique too. I think it really could have been a great film but instead it developed into pretentious rubbbish...Saying that my partner loved it but then she has crap taste in films anyway.

Life is short. This film is complete rubbish. Don't waste your time. Others have suffered so as you need not!! Try something else! Just off the top of my head, try DEAD MAN'S SHOES, INTACTO, SLING BLADE, WHEN THE LAST SWORD IS DRAWN, ZATOICHI, HOW TO GET AHEAD IN ADVERTISING, COME AND SEE, HIDDEN....... Anything but this!

A beautiful and often funny film about intimacy, phsychology and exploitation with some fantastic performances and an emotionally arousing visual style. Not so good for an easy night's entertainment but if you're interested in the power of cinema to communicate challenging and complex ideas about people and society then this is one not to miss.

Sad but noisy film about Siamese twins in the punk rock world. The characters are so one-dimensional, clichéd and undeveloped I found my attention wondering. I suspect that there is a lot more depth to the original story that inspired this dull film. I found the whole thing earnest, humourless and more than a little pretentious. A 'cult' film? Only in the eyes of the makers, I suspect.
