I was absolutely enthralled from start to finish, the situation may be outside of my experience but the characters and family dynamics were so 3 dimensional and excellently acted that it wasn't hard to relate to Jannik, Michael and his wife and feel totally invested in the story.
There's a certain dowdy look to the film that put me off a little at first but I think, in the end the total lack of Hollywood style gloss just made the film seem more realistic, more raw. You could believe these people existed and had lives in the real world. Nothing felt contrived and I was very moved by the end.
