  • Another Danish masterpiece

    Rated - 5.0 stars

    [Highly rated reviewer]

In Denmark Susanne Bier is best known for her comedy 'The One and Only' but since Brothers were released she has shown the world that she is also an excellent director when it comes to doing drama. Brothers is an honest film about family bonds, love and crisis. The emotions are raw, the dialogue unforgiving and the actors' performances brilliant. Note: Ulrich Jensen from Festen (the Celebration) and a small role in Die Another Day. Nikolaj Lie Kaas from Reconstruction and Connie Nielsen from Gladiator. This is her first film in Danish and outside of Hollywood - and she delivers a fantastic performance. If this is your first Danish film it is an excellent choice and I am sure that you will be looking for more films from this small Scandinavian country with a massive gift for cinema.

A very, very plausible story - with very, very plausible dialogues and emotional outbursts. Should make us think twice about all the men out there fighting - whatever their beliefs

  • A believable story of relationships and war.

    Rated - 4.0 stars

A thoughful film that showed the impact that a war situation can have on a soldier irrespective of rank, especially when returning home.

    It felt truthful.

An under current of violence was evident in the relationship of the two brothers and the father and an expectation of behaviour (good v bad) was played out to include the whole family.

This was looking to be an excellent & well-made film, but we found that YET ANOTHER FAULTY DISC WASTED OUR TIME!

  • Probably the best film I have seen for years

An incredible, realistic, nerve shedding emmotional roller coaster.

My wife spent large parts of this film in tears due to the power, believability and empathy of the characters.

Not an action film rather a wonderfully acted, powerful family drama that brings home the true horror of war and how it can destroy even the strongest of us.

A wonderful, wonderful film and any one who says anything else is just plain ignorant.

  • Film with Depth

    Rated - 4.5 stars

Well crafted film, and, quite harrowing at times, but, one you should watch, streets ahead of the usual US rubbish, a film with some depth. Brilliantly directed, well acted, what more do you need.
