Mad-cap, irreverant, but not without heart & mind

Joaquin Phoenix is great in this as a reluctant hero. There's more of Heller's great book Catch-22 I'd suggest in the story then MASH as oft-suggested, with an existential awareness transcending the frequent but easier LOL zaniness also here. I see there's well over 200 reviews to date, but the latest below really don't give the film justice in my opinion. The character of Ray's unlikey gap-toothed love interest is just one of many litle bits of cleverness and ample evidence of humanity here.
