Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Season 6
2nd April 2005
I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
But this is the point where it all goes disastrously wrong for our heroine and the sometime-genius show she is in.
Doublemeat Palace. Two words which strike fear into the heart of any Buffy fan. Truly the worst episode in the history of Buffy.
The mess the writers have made out of the three main points of Season Six is appalling.
Firstly, Buffy's relationship with Spike which veers off onto a completely different course from the growing friendship and attraction we have seen in the first half of the season, it feels like the characters are being led by the writers in a direction that doesn't come naturally and it is almost painful to watch.
Then there is Willow's magic 'addiction'. It is a lame, lame attempt at 'issue' drama that falls flat on its face.
Finally there are the nerds, supposedly the season's villains who have by now ceased to be even slightly amusing.
Dead Things - horrible, had me shouting at the screen. Older And Far Away - no continuity of character relationships from the previous episode, dull, everyone is horrible. As You Were - The return of Riley, 'nuff said.
The characters (with the exception of Tara) all become less and less likable as the series continues its descent into ill-thought out darkness.
