Bull Durham review

Look at a list of the best sports films of all time and you often see this film mentioned somewhere. So my expectation was quite high. However, Bull Durham fits into the 'I hate seeing a film that has been hyped up only to be left totally unsatisfied' category.
OK there were some good elements; the main one that its different to lots of sports films, mainly by having a lot of sex making up the storyline.
But even this idea became annoying after a while because it was just a bit too weird, over-acted and unreal. Would Kevin Costner's character really want to go where Tim Robbins had just parked his love truncheon? Would any man want to settle down with basically a woman who's slept with an entire roster of baseball players? Which two characters did. But maybe the religious player didn't know. Yet who wants to see a man marry a whore without knowing? Like he's been tricked.
I would have liked more sports action, a bit more of a feel good factor and to feel more inspired. But maybe i'm just a fan of the classic, some might say boring, predictable format of other sports films and Bull Durham doesn't do this. It bucks the trend.
However, i still didn't enjoy the film. Nice idea but written, acted and filmed a bit poorly over-all.
