It may seem an ignominious end for one of the greatest American actors of his day to guest in a B-movie series. But John Barrymore seems to enjoy himself in this film, one of his three outings for Paramount as Scotland Yard hot shot Colonel Nielson. He certainly upstages John Howard, whose Drummond seems a very dull dog by comparison. It's based on the novel The Female of the Species, by HC Sapper McNeile and the story turns around the kidnapping of Louise Campbell by J Carrol Naish, who leaves recorded clues to lure the detecting duo into a trap.
