Woo woo fun!
By Welshwaspy (126 reviews) from London , 02 Nov 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Bullet in the head is a typically John Woo film - lots of action, slow motion shots and a relentless pace. Unfortunately it also contains some other Woo trademarks, namely poor acting and lack of plot.
The film starts with three close friends in 1960s Hong Kong looking to make their way in life. Circumstances means they have to leave quickly and they end up in Vietnam during the height of the war trying to make their fortune. They eventually meet the ex-CIA man Lok and plan to rob a wealthy but dodgy businessman of his gold. Things don't go according to plan and they are pursued through the war torn country trying to free themselves from his men. As they escape the greed of one of the three friends becomes apparent and he eventually betrays them in order to keep the gold, leaving them for dead. The film ends with Bee (Tony Leung) confronting Wing and the evitable finale fight scene entails.
Although this isn't the best John Woo film, its thoroughly watchable although it could do with being 30 mins shorter.- Was this review helpful to you?

(35)Just not up to scratch
By a customer , 29 Apr 2012I have to say i was very disapointed with this one. Being a John Woo fan i guess I had my hopes hedged a little too highly. the script is among the worst I have ever seen, and that is saying a lot for Woo's films, the acting is wooden and over the top, and the action is great in parts but each time there's a big set piece it always feels like it drags on about eight explosions and fifty dead bodies too long. Hard Boiled, this ain't- Was this review helpful to you?

Oriental Claptrap
By a customer from York , 16 Nov 2010Absolutely awful film, naff acting, useless plot, just bad, bad, bad, made even worse by the musical score, what sounded like granny in the background constantly giving us her awful one fingered rendition of happy birthday to you, played on her clapped out Bontempi keyboard. This film has had a fair number of good reviews, some very good ones, if these were accurate, then I obviously just don't understand this movie genre, to me it was just plain rubbish, a load of old Hong Kong phooey, or pooey. I only left the 1 star rating in order to be able to do this review, in all honesty I think that 1 star is far to generous.- Was this review helpful to you?
