I watched this on C4 ages ago, very very funny. Its a comedy about a british spy and if you have a childish sense of humour you will love it.
The transfer of this 4:3 ratio film forcing it to 16:9 widescreen is unbelievably poor. Whoever did it was blind or didn't bother checking their work. Whole scenes with heads cropped or completely missing, and a film with loads of sight gags ruined because of it. Don't bother with this version, look for one that hasn't been butchered.
I enjoyed watching this when it appeared on television and it seemed to disappear into obscurity never to be repeated. When I saw it was available on DVD i wanted to see it again. My enjoyment was shattered when I saw the picture had been hacked down to 16:9 format making a mockery of any effort the original production team had made. I was very disapointed.

What a shame... great mickey-taking spoof from way back when; which has now been butchered by an amateurish attempt to transfer it to dvd. Heads and feet chopped off, scenery missing and jokes totally spoiled - whoever convinced the powers-that-be they could turn a 4.3 into a 16.9 without a problem must have been a smooth talking B......! I Will now have to wait until it's shown on tv again to enjoy this comedy classic.

I am old enough to have been thrilled at the adventures of Bulldog Dummond, in books and in the early cinema.
This is the best spoof of that person and of that genre I have ever seen. A ripping yarn of derring do with a hero, heroine and a load of Nazis plotting to take over the world.
Tongue in cheek there are parts where it is 'simply spiffing' but most of all it is a great story and a lot of laughs. Highly recommended. for FUN.

Appaling transfer to dvd. Never seen a film where almost everybody is cut off at the nose. And not in a nice way. Don't bother watching this film.
Very poor quality transfer from what appears to be a VHS source. I expected better.
Great movie but this version is unwatchable.
There appear to be several similar reviews regarding this butchered version.
Why not destroy this DVD and buy the original 1983 version ?
