LOVEFiLM Review Bunny and the Bull

  • 4 stars out of 5

    By Helen Cowley from LOVEFiLM

From the creator of The Mighty Boosh, comes a road-trip movie told inside one man's mind.

  • Why did I love it?

    [Highly rated reviewer]

I loved this film because it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I really did think it was just going to replicate exactly what The Mighty Boosh is, and I was content with that, because the MB is hilarious, but it wasn't at all. It was much more than that, a creative and original visual treat.

Other than the obvious surreal elements which gave the set its flair, some of the cinematography was a delight; very clever indeed at times, angles weren't pointlessly bizarre, it helped with the dream-like narrative.

Though I wouldn't say it was as funny as the Boosh, I would certainly say it has its moments; the fact it has some real sections of poignancy too was a step up of maturity from Paul King. The culminating scene is very well done and though I sort of saw it coming, it was treated sensibly and ended the film on an uplifting note.

Not quite perfect, but very nearly there, for me. I desperately look forward to the next installment, and I am so greatful it was showing near me!

  • Neutral movie...

Definately not a comedy movie! It has some funny scenes but it's more like a drama with a neutral sad-optimistic end!

Brilliant and quirky film with some amazing imagery and a gripping storyline tinged with sadness. One of those films that stay with you for a long time.

This is truly painful. Avoid like the plague unless you are into uni film study project work. In which case you could find better on you tube.
