I would say do not judge this series based purely on the first episode alone as the first episode is below average. A few years ago I rented it and did exactly that, but now on a second viewing, I enjoyed it far more after watching all four episodes together.

I found the Dubbed version of the episodes to be rather annoying and cringe-worthy but after changing to the original Japanese soundtrack, the series is far more enjoyable and watchable. Although it’s funny and light-hearted, the series takes a dark turn half way through and bumps up the drama and the action, while continuing into a two-part story.

The animation is good and although it isn’t as vibrant as some of the more recent Anime, it serves its purpose well. It’s a shame the series ended without any ending to the story-threads it was setting up. Although this may continue in its spin-off series Burn-Up Excess.
