    [Highly rated reviewer]

This new series has semi-decent production values, an hilarious Engrish hip-hop theme tune and some original, if not eye-popping costume design, but the setting, plots, dialogue and characters are so relentlessly cliched that it's nothing you haven't seen before. Anime creators, please note there's more to making an original and entertaining show than simply putting Love Hina and Bubblegum Crisis in a blender.

  • Quite enjoyable

I was pleasantly surprised by this anime. When the opening scene had two Mecha fighting (I'm not really into the transformers/mecha stuff) I was a little dubious, but it was quite well done.

It reminded me quite a lot of ‘Bubblegum Crisis’ without the Powersuits - the girls are even fairly similar (Joe - the tough battler is like Priss, Meg the sexy airhead is like Linna, the young computer whiz one like the redhead I can’t recall the name of and the elder sister in charge of them all is like Sylia). ‘Bubblegum Crisis’ is one of my faves and what got me into Anime so for me it’s a good thing.

I've only seen the first disc so not sure about the Angel references yet but will certainly try out more.

  • Usual bouncing boobs, etc. But a mixed up genre style it is?

Despite an awful jap version rap track at the beginning of each episode this dvd starts well and hope is high after the first chapter. However as seems to be the way it rapidly slows down to a gentler pace I assume for weekly tv slots. It is a mix of all sorts of styles and tries hard.
