Movie based in Canada of a French-speaking family - a typical suburban middle-class household in the 70s with no daughters but 5 sons raised by their very butch father. Its a coming-of-age movie from the perspective of the 4th son, Zack, who from a young age exhibited 'girly' traits and by his teenage years, was convinced of his homosexuality but for years repressed that as he tried to go about living a 'normal' teenage boy's life, had a girlfriend, trying to please his father at the same time at least in the sexual orientation respect. Eventually the family encounters some major upheavals along the way, which threatens to tear the family apart, and Zack's confrontation of his own sexuality is just one of them, the other being the rebel oldest son, Christian, who leads a wild rocker boy lifestyle which eventually causes his downfall. Very touching movie. The acting is superb and the storyline is well-crafted. I watched this movie for about 3 times before I started getting a bit tired of it, but I still love it. One of my favourites of all-time.
