An excellent intro to an excellent show

This disc, which features the first four episodes of hit US crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, encompasses everything that's great about the show into four 45 minute episodes. You're introduced to the main characters and their personal traits - vital for understanding some of the later episodes - and see the CSIs tackle a wide variety of different crime scenes. If you're a fan of the show but haven't seen it from the beginning - or, indeed, are a complete newcomer - this disc is a must-see. One of the finest shows on TV of the last decade, CSI stands proudly alongside "Twin Peaks" and "24" as the most groundbreaking drama series' of the era. Er!!!

The first thing I was disappointed about was the fact it was all very convenient. Clues and evidence could have been found by Stevie Wonder never mind a trained SOCO (sorry CSI).
Secondly the series didn't grab me as every episode starts with a new crime and story. I thought at one point there was going to be a serial killer to foil and have a bit of 'cat and mouse' with however that never panned out and left me empty.
I thought it was going to be more thought provoking and stimulating but I found it all to be a poor man's silent witness or Dexter for dummies!!- Was this review helpful to you?

By SupaMarrio22 (40 reviews) from Liskeard , 18 Mar 2009I absolutely love CSI, but missed out on the craze from the start, so LoveFIlm provides the perfect chance to go through the box sets as a cheaper option than buying them all!!
However, the service received from LoveFilm was poor IMO. I got the discs in a random order for starters. We sat down to watch 'disc 1' and whilst watching we realised that all was not quite right. We seemed to be too far into the characters life for it to be the start, but as we hadn't seen the first episodes, we plodded on.
It wasn't until I got 'dics 4' that we realised this was the disc we had at first!! It has put me off renting box sets from them, but I am going to give Season 2 a try. Hopefully they will come in order!!
The series was great. If you have seen a few episodes of CSI then you will love it, if not then give it a try. I love to guess at storylines and plots so the ideal series for me!!- Was this review helpful to you?
