Stockade
By Ginge9570 (7 reviews) from Burton on Trent , 29 Dec 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
I watched this film under the title Stockade. on VHS many moons ago. Thought it was slow to get into but the more you watched the more glued you became. Found it very hard to get on DVD due to the Title changing to Cadence which had me lost but soon as its available here i will rent it again for another helping. Good story line from father and son working well together. well worth the 5 stars and anyone that doesnt get the gist of the film must have brain cells missing. Charlie sheen not refuses to goto vietnam but has lost his in film father and goes into a state of mouning. This is what starts him off on the road to the stockade where he spends time with his black inmates. Who later become good friends. ( would i lie to you. ?? if it was pooh i would tell you. ! )- Was this review helpful to you?

Awful Bordering On Genius
By a customer from London , 08 Nov 2005Charlie plays a rebel soldier who refuses to fight in Vietnam being sent to a military stockade. It features virtually every film cliché in the world, including:
Charlie clearly being a rebel, as he has slicked back hair, a tattoo, and a pack of cigarettes in the sleeve of his T shirt.
The other prisoners, all black, initially mistrust him for being whitey, but he wins their trust by (and I wish I was making this up) playing basketball.
The head warder is sadistic, drinks a lot and has a troubled home life.
During a stormy night, a fellow inmate is shot by a warder. As the rain lashes Charlies face, he cradles the lifeless body in his arms. He raises his face skyward, and as the camera zooms back he screams, in slow motion, Nooooooo!!!!
Being black, the other inmates obviously march to a soul tune, specifically Chain Gang. Being black, they obviously incorporate a few Soul Train dance steps into their marching. Being white, Charlie obviously cant dance. But at the end of the film, as hes released (they arent, of course, because theyre black), he marches past the pen where theyre waving goodbye and does a little Soul Train dance step to show hes Down with the brothers.
Ive barely scratched the surface of how truly awful this film is. It made my face hurt when I watched it. But I couldn't turn away from it.- Was this review helpful to you?
