Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann is desperate to team Beyonce Knowles and Hugh Jackman for a new movie musical after directing the stars for a medley of showtunes at the Oscars. Knowles and Jackman whizzed through renditions of Lady Marmalade, All That Jazz and Somewhere Over The Rainbow in a performance medley last month (22Feb09) helmed by the Moulin Rouge! filmmaker. Beyonce to play Eartha?

Beyonce is in talks to play the late great Eartha Kitt in a new film. After portraying Etta James in Cadillac Records and emulating Diana Ross in Dreamgirls, the singer/actress is hoping to complete a trilogy of diva roles by taking on original Catwoman Kitt on the big screen. She says, "I was going to do a film about Eartha Kitt. It's a great story, but I don't know if it's still happening. "If it does, it'll just fall into place." Spike Lee and Tyler Perry are among the directors nominated at the upcoming NAACP Image Awards.
