Cold war spy stories with Callan as a reluctant assassin. The last episode is still topical(racism/immigrants).See some familiar faces when younger especially the stunning Stephanie Beecham.- Was this review helpful to you?

English OAP Review
By George Parker from Southampton , 21 Apr 2005Woodward at his gritty best. This series was years before its time. It's still more realistic that the current US option 'The Agency'. Woodward was never to match this performance again. All credit to the writers.- Was this review helpful to you?

Familiar faces
By TonyBrooks (13 reviews) from Hastings , 17 Feb 2005As well as Stephanie Beacham, it is fascinating to see in these episodes what Annette Crosbie, Nina Baden-Semper and Corin Redgrave looked like 35 years ago (Redgrave has hair and glasses making him look exactly like Bamber Gascoigne!).
The plots creak a bit and they didn't seem to worry about fluffs and cock-ups in those days (watch William Squire as Hunter button up his cardigan in the wrong holes), but these are still gripping playlets well worth watching.- Was this review helpful to you?
