I rented this title because of Gerald Depardieu and Auguste Rodin but justice is done to neither: the young Depardieu has a role confined to every stereotypical artistic cliche and Rodin appears as a bullying roue. There is a marginal feminist interest in the career of Camille Claudel who struggles for recognition in the masculine world of sculpture - but yet again, we drown in cliches as she faces the inevitable conflict between her beauty and talent and the eroticism of Rodin. There are beautiful moments, attractive filmsets but tedious longeurs.
