It's graduation day at Huntington Hills High, and you know what that means - time to party. And not just any party, either. This one will be a night to remember, as the nerds become studs, the jocks are humiliated, and freshman crushes blossom into grown-up romance. Flat characters are stuck in underdeveloped situations in first-time directors Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont's attempt to recapture the mood of a John Hughes eighties teen comedy. Rather than crafting a postmodern BREAKFAST CLUB, they've made a bad PORKY'S retread instead. Set around a post-graduation party where couples meet, get drunk, indulge in bonding and gross slapstick, every stereotypical situation is pulled out of the old-hat formula plot to little effect, even less surprise and eventually utmost tedium. Most people can hardly wait for it to end!
"...High-spirited...[and] agreeably mindless..."
Now that I have got your attention DO NOT RENT THIS FILM! I would rather stick an ice pick in my eye rather than sit through this again. Actually make it both eyes.
As a fan of this kind of movie I was very disappointed by this fil, but I should have probably relalised by the 12 certifcate.
Without some of the cruder humour and risque antics that you find in other movies, you are left with a rather bland movie that has all the right ingredients but doesn't follow them through.
The main enjoyment here is wading through the who's who of familiar faces from comedies and sitcoms of today, as there are many in the cast, or watching 'Not Another Teen Movie' firt and then spotting where they parody this film.
If you have seen 'Not Another Teen Movie' and didn't get a number of references then this film will fill in a lot of gaps.
"Can't Hardly Wait" is a fairly average, frothy, high school comedy. Seth Green is by far the most entertaining thing and there is the odd funny moment. If anything it just tries a little too hard. Not as good as '10 Things I Hate About You' or 'She's All That' but definitely of that genre.
There are worse ways to spend 90 minutes but there are many better. More for Jennifer Love Hewitt fans than the rest of the population.

Typically predictable teen comedy, thought it was ok nothing really ground breaking though but certainly wasn't bad.

There's nothing that I hadn't already seen here before ,given that this was quite a bit before American pie ,Road Trip ect... this would've been quite fresh at the time so this was quite entertaining and isn't that the purpose of renting movies ?

Entertaining film, although the students at the party were rather crazy and over the top. I felt sorry for the girl whose house it was. All through the film we are wondering if Preston and Amanda will get together -- I won't spoil it for you, you have to watch it to find out. Some interesting gags along the way, and some interesting views on fate and how things work out in ways we least expect. Worth watching. No swearing or nudity, not offensive.
Great performances by all those involved, though has to be said Love Hewitt is a bit bland as the most popular girl in school who just wants to be loved for who she really is!Probably not her fault though. The other characters are a lot more enjoyable, especially anti-social Ambrose, and Seth Green. There are some great cameos from people (Eric Balfour, Melissa Joan Hart...) and many you will recognise but cant place. This film wont change the world but if you are looking for something entertaining and at times touching, then you cant hardly wait!!! he, he
very chick flick type, my teenage daughter loved it, as did the friends she had staying over the weekend, definate teenagers film,
This is an easy-to-watch movie, which has a few laughs in it (mainly because of seth green). I personally wouldn't rush out to watch it again though
