Solid continuation of the original Candyman...

Its always difficult to bring yourself to watch a sequel to such a fantastic horror film, since you are nearly always disappointed. This film however, provides a good solid continuation of the first film that tries to give you a bit more information about the 'Candyman' or Daniel Robataille and how he became who/what he is. The film follows a young women who's brother is being blamed for murders that he hasn't commited. This plunges her into the world of the Candyman, however, as she digs deeper it appears that she has stronger ties to Daniel Robataille than she thought. The film has a very similar feeling to the original and from that point of view is very easy to watch if you liked the first film. Tony Todd is a strong as ever and most of the other stars give good performances to match. The biggest problem with this film is that it never quite matches the first films strength and style and also suffers from the 'seen it all before' problems of horror sequels. If you really enjoyed the first film then this comes recommended as a good continuation of story, which should keep you entertained for 90 mins. However, if you haven't seen the original then make sure you watch that first before moving on to the second film. Enjoy :o)- Was this review helpful to you?

better then candyman 1
