    The Whispering

Philip Seymour Hoffman must do an incredible job of impersonating Truman Capote in this movie (I don't know this for sure because I, unlike the self congratulatory critics it seems, never knew Mr Capote). I have no idea why else this film would have met with the critical acclaim it did. I refuse to believe that I just didnt get it or that it was too smart for me--this film was anything but.

Hoffman whispers his way through the movie making the dialogue very difficult to hear, let alone care about.

The film plods and this is compounded on by underdeveloped characters for whom the viewer can build no kind of empathy.

    great cast, beaufifully shot

I really enjoyed Hoffmans performance and i think the script was pure gold.

Fantastic dialogue that masterfully reveals the nature and motives of the main protagonist

We are left in no doubt that Capote was a great raconteur. Perhaps more suprising is the sensitivity and diplomancy he managed to muster to gain the trust of the grieving friends and neighbours of the victims while also convincing the murderers to open up to him.

This was a story i knew nothing about but became so interested in after watching the movie that i started to research it on the internet.

A fascinating study of the human condition and never less than totally entertaining.
