(154)It grows on you-an acquired taste.
By Bobsview (554 reviews) from Gloucestershire , 21 Feb 2013Rare Lebanese film, in French with sub titles. Deals sensitively with the common issues that women deal with the whole world over in their lives. Like a sort of Mike Leigh style. Portrays the lives of 4 women who work in a beauty salon. Many will find it slow and lacking in action. But it grows on you and makes you care about the characters.- Was this review helpful to you?

Warm and affectionate humorous film
By Ferry41 (223 reviews) from Oxford , 06 Apr 2012This film follows some women friends at a beauty salon in Beirut. Superficially it feels a bit like an Arabic version of Sex and the City. There are certain 'types', aging beauty, lesbian, beautiful woman involved with a married man etc. however the characters are developed well enough that one remains engaged. It's also a funny film. It's wonderful to see a humorous film from a women's perspective from a region of the world that we primarily associate with war. Highly recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

Much more than a leg wax
By loveandmusic (1 review) from Altrincham , 27 Mar 2012A beautiful film about love, friendship and life, perfect for an afternoon.
Funny, touching & romantic but not a 'girly' film by a long shot.- Was this review helpful to you?

Arabic delights!
By Nommy (12 reviews) , 09 Dec 2011An honestly wonderful film. I enjoyed every moment of it, and although i did expect it to be in Arabic, I only realised half way through that I'd actually been reading subtitles. Its engaging and never falters. I watched it all the way through with interest and intrigue in all the characters who where all very realistic. Wonderful piece of film work.- Was this review helpful to you?
