Absolute garbage, not a patch on the classic original. The fact it came out straight to video speaks volumes.- Was this review helpful to you?

(28)Carlito's Way: Rise to Power
By kdipstar (1 review) from Birmingham , 01 Aug 2010If you are a fan of the original you will no doubt be intrigued by this prequel. Unfortunately this fails to deliver on almost every level. The actor playing Carlito is completely wooden and one dimensional, he displays a lot of posturing and severely lacks charisma in portraying the icon that Pacino created. This was really a playground for Soprano/The Wire/Goodfellas rejects and lacks major credibility. The characters are shockingly unbelievable and some of the dialogue makes you cringe. Indeed most Brian De Palma/Pacino fans would consider this an offence to the original. By all means watch but prepare to be disappointed.- Was this review helpful to you?

Okey Dokey
By a customer from Nothamptonshire, UK , 27 May 2007Didn't need to see the first Carlito's way to be able to watch this film. Film was OK, moderate performances with a fairly stable script. Very little to be impressed by but entertaining none the less. Not a blockbuster but worth a watch if you like Ganster type stories.- Was this review helpful to you?
