    [Highly rated reviewer]

This is a must see for Carlos Kleiber and classical music fans, as he was indeed voted by professional musicians and conductors as the best conductor ever. You should see it even if you have never heard of Carlos Kleiber as he is now acquiring near mythical status, and the cult following is growing by the day. It includes personal reminiscences by well known and respected musicians who were fortunate enough to have worked with him, including the likes of Brigit Fassenbaender and Placido Domingo, as well as Kleiber's sister who gives insights to the family and childhood background of this legendary figure in classical music. It includes footages of Kleiber's rehearsals as well as analysis and insights by other conductors and retired musicians who were in the orchestra. The words used to describe his work are 'spiritual', 'mystical', 'a lifeline to the infinite', etc. with which I quite agree. It is all very nostalgic of course, because we all miss Carlos Kleiber desperately, and it is beautifully done. I find the way the end of the film is done very very moving. My only complaint is it's too short, and should have been twice as long. Otoh, if you're looking for a biography you'll disappointed, because no one really knows much about Carlos Kleiber anyhow, and inevitably it's all going to be speculation. Still, it is a beautifully made film, and will deepen your appreciation/understanding of the work of the conductor, and listen to the works even if conducted by other conductors with renewed understanding. It will make you want to listen to Carlos Kleiber's recordings even more, of course.
