    [Highly rated reviewer]

A well recorded and presented set of DVDs from the Montreux 2004 festival. All DVDs were about an hour long and showed off the artists from every angle just as if you were there. A brilliant sound quality too. Even the bit where Gatemouth Brown was playing in a different key to everyone else in the band was great. The look on Santana’s face said it all. Well-done Tesco for finding these.

Disappointing! Although I only rented 1 disc, I thought I would have seen more of Carlos Santana performing, as he only appeared in the last 2 songs.

However, he did make up for it, as he played brilliantly and brought life into a previously dull performance by Bobby Parker.

If you are a fan of the blues, it may be worth renting this disc as an object lesson in how it should NOT be done. Blues is all about timing, phrasing, and above all, feeling. Bobby Parker is undoubtedly a talented guitarist, but this is one of the most soulless performances I have ever seen. His James Brown style 'let me hear you say yeahs' are cheesy and off putting. But not quite as off putting as his peculiar hair and tendency to over play every solo he takes.

The sound and image quality of this DVD is first rate, but I would advise you to skip this disc and go straight for the fantastic Gatemouth Brown and the mercurial Buddy Guy.

Gate's sadly no longer with us, but if you ever get the chance, go and see Buddy Guy live. You will never see a more talented blues guitarist and singer.
