I have long wanted to see this film again as I saw it when it was first broadcast by the BBC around 25 years ago. I had forgotten about the very bloodthirsty bull fights at the begnning and end (yes I know the bull fights end with the bull being killed in the majority of fights - but I don't like to watch it either in Spain or on DVD) They weren't necessary. Julia Migenes Johnson lives up to the sultry image first seen in 'High Cs and Coronets', a BBC series about the same time as the film. Her only failing is that she really does love herself, and it shows! Domingo turns in his usual brilliant performance, but even he doesn't seem entirely happy with the film production. It could have been a really outsanding production, given the location, the ambience and the colour (I don't agree its faded) but it somehow falls short, I obviously only remembered the good parts and, even given what I've said above, there are plenty of those.
