    cut off in its prime

Very superior viewing. Knowing that this had got cancelled before season 3, I was worried about whether I was going to get enough of a payoff at the end of season 2. Yes, there's a reasonable climax, but it's pretty obvious that the series has (and always did have) a much bigger trajectory. This could have been one of those legendary one-in-a-million shows: it's beautifully shot, brilliantly acted, weird, unique and captivating. Even in its truncated form, it's still worth watching; but whatever shortsighted boardroom bod thought fit to axe this committed a grave act of artistic vandalism.
