Carry On England (1976)

What a travesty! This penultimate but one ‘Carry On’ lacked some of the big stars and shows signs of a tiredness in terms of creativity and little understanding of what is ‘saucy’ and what is lewd crudity. The ‘plot,’ to dignify it to a level it doesn’t deserve, is weak in the extreme.

While mixed sex units in the armed forces are not unusual now, it must have been rare when the film was made and unheard of when it was set during WW2 The farce like scene where the males and females chase each other through escape tunnels is ludicrous to the point of inanity. The worst of the ‘Carry On’s’ I only watched it because it is a Carry On. I’m sorry I bothered.
