The Carry On series ran from 1963 to 1978. Carry On Screaming is one of the best, and also one of my favourites, as it is a spoof of the hammer house of horror series. it is also set in the victorian era, which i have always found fascinating. harry H corbett from steptoe and son takes the leading role with peter butterworth as his sidekick. they are superb. well worth renting out.- Was this review helpful to you?

Frying Tonight!!

Yes the humour is not very sophisticated and you can see the jokes coming a mile off but Kenneth Williams was never better, and many of the usual cast (including Charles Hawtrey, contrary to the previous review!!) are there.- Was this review helpful to you?

One of the Best Carry On's
By a customer from Gloucester , 12 Jan 2011I am a a huge fan of the genre anyway and don't care that people find them 'dated' and 'crude' but this is one of the best of the lot. Great performances from Harry H Corbett, Kenny Williams, Joan Sims and Fenella Fielding with an unusally good script.
This micky take of another of my favourite genres 'Hammer' seems to have a bigger budget than other Carry On's, has quite a few predictable but funny gags and is all set against a story that even Hammer would have been proud of. I also don't find this one as crude as some of the later ones.
If you arent normally a Carry On fan I suggest you watch this one first, you might get hooked!!- Was this review helpful to you?
