It had to happen. Pixar's winning streak couldn't go on forever.

[Highly rated reviewer]Like Shrek and couple other CGI films, the first sequal is as good if not better than the original and Cars 2 dosen't disppoint.
When I first saw the trailer, I wasn't 100% sure about it but I was 100% after watching about oh......a minute and it was fun recognising or even trying to recognising the voices like Eddie Issard and Micheal Caine as the cars. This film will not only entain the kids but the adults and the plot almost sounds like something like a James Bond film but with a tow truck as the hero and not necessarily the saive British car.
I must admit I was slightly confused about the French Robin Reliant and how fast it could go, LOL.

Cars 2By katiekatecatcatherine (42 reviews) from Liverpool , 11 Dec 2011I am a huge fan of the first film, so i was a bit wary about how good this one would be but i was very impressed with how good this was. it's nothing like the first film, it's a completely different type and i loved it.

Cars 2, not Pixar's finest, but still very good.By WildFire15 (3 reviews) from Newcastle upon Tyne , 09 Dec 2011
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideCars 2 is quite an interesting kettle of motorized fish. Some people slate it as Pixar finally losing it's soul and while I agree this is hardly Pixar's finest work, even a 'poor' Pixar movie is quite good.
To kick off, Cars 2 doesn't have an enourmous amount in common with the original, besides a few main characters and the universe and rather then a personal story of an arrogant racer realizing there's more to the world, Cars 2 favours a typical spy plot with a mysterious villian seeking to fool the public into thinking a new product is terrible while his is amazing. While fairly predictable, the conspiricy is still interesting enough to keep you watching.
The main problem with Cars 2 is Mater isn't main character material. He was good as a comic foil and complete contrast to Lightning McQueen in the original, but here he's mistaken for an American Spy and spends much of the movie bungling through a mission to find out who's sabotaging the World Grand Prix that Lightning is competing in. His doesn't change, even when he realizes how much of an idiot he looks to others and attempts to make us feel sorry for him when he realizes don't really work. Finn McMissle and Hollie Shiftwell arn't particually deep characters but drive the plot along, as well as star in some of the best action set-pieces in a Pixar movie so far, with McMissle making an explosive escape from an oil rig and Hollie employing her extendable wings to take on multiple thugs. If anything, Cars 2 at least proves Pixar can do imaginative action as well as Dreamworks.
Probably what surprised me the most about the movie is the heavy use of implied killing. The real American spy's torturous death, shown in a difficult to see reflection of a TV screen, makes me wonder why the movie's U rated rather then PG.
All in all, Cars 2 is still a fun movie to watch, but if you're expecting another masterpiece along the lines of Wall-E or the Toy Story series, you'll be disappointed.
