Animation guru John Lasseter fought back tears at the unveiling of his Hollywood Walk of Fame tribute on Tuesday (01Nov11) as he remembered late Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs. The Pixar Animation Studios boss received the 2,453rd star on the famous walkway and branded it "the greatest honour you could give me", before lying down on top of the plaque. But his speech turned serious as he remembered his late pal Jobs, who he worked with after the computer entrepreneur bought Pixar in the 1980s. Read more
Steven Spielberg's epic The Adventures Of Tintin, the Cars sequel and Gnomeo & Juliet are among the 18 movies in consideration for Best Animated Feature Film at next year's (12) Oscars. Also making the cut are Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, Arthur Christmas, Happy Feet Two, Puss in Boots, Rango, Rio and The Smurfs. Johnny Depp's quirky movie Rango is be awarded the 2011 Hollywood Animation Award at the 15th annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Film Awards. The movie, directed by Gore Verbinski, will be honoured at the festival's gala ceremony on 24 October (11) in Beverly Hills. Al Pacino is in talks to play a washed-up musician who receives a lost letter from John Lennon in Cars screenwriter Dan Fogelman's directorial debut. In the film, a father decides to reconcile with his estranged son after learning all about a fan letter from Lennon which got lost in the post.
