Rent the bbc version instead
By KitKat from North London , 17 Feb 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
More 'Around the World in 80 Days' than 'Shakespeare in Love'; 'Casanova' attempts to fuse Blackadder style anachronistic humour with romantic drama, but misses on both counts and descends into farce. It has moments of silly humour, but just isn't anywhere near funny enough. Ledger is adequate as the man himself, but Sienna Miller is hopelessly miscast as the love interest and their central romance is entirely unconvincing. By the end, the film loses its tenuous grip on reality completely. It is unlikely to appeal to anyone over the age of twelve. Do yourself a favour and rent the bbc version instead.- Was this review helpful to you?

(215)Fun overwhelmed by stupidity
By MrMxyzptlk (9 reviews) , 03 Mar 2012Fun and entertaining first half gives way to ridiculously stupid second half. Worth a watch, but don't expect much from this film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Falls flat- David Tennant version much better
By TheCountessOfRochester (11 reviews) , 27 Feb 2012Not worth watching! Heath Ledger is not right nor believable as Casanova and quite frankly, for a movie about the worlds greatest lover it is too tame! Casanova with David Tennant is a MILLION times better, more flamboyant and enjoyable. This version just falls flat. Ignore the good ratings and reviews- if they had seen the version with David Tennant, they would be writing the same review as I am here.- Was this review helpful to you?

Fun-filled romp
By a customer , 16 Feb 2012Not Oscar worthy, but still a really funny, high spirited film to relax with. Heath Ledger and Sienna Miller play very convincing roles. Well worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

Really my cup of tea!
By a customer , 11 Jan 2012I found it quite charming and so romantic - really my cup of tea. It has well known stars, a good story to it and it's hilarious.
Heath Ledger looks gorgeous, as always, and plays his character so well. I would fall for him any day of the week and twice on Sundays!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Nowhere near as good as David Tennant
By a customer , 25 Nov 2011I get the feeling Heath Ledger was relaxing on this film shoot - it is very light weight, but enjoyable despite this. His accent is very odd. Ok once, but definitely not one of his best.- Was this review helpful to you?
