Elegy for the apogee of the mob
By gesh from LONDON , 15 Feb 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Las Vegas has never looked more beautiful or more seductive as we are lead through more than a decade of the rise and fall of the mafia empire in the desert. This is not a sanitisation. There is extreme violence. But even that is unforgettably staged and photographed.
It is a long film, nearly 3 hours, but it never slackens its grip for a moment. This is all the more extraordinary an achievement, given that there's so much story it is crammed into voiceover, or rather two strands of variably reliable voiceover.
Sharon Stone won an Oscar for her portrayal of Ginger, the casino boss's wife and sometime hooker, but there's not a bad performance in it. Every character, though at best venial, is so sharply realised you care about them.
In my book this exceeds The Godfather.- Was this review helpful to you?

(109)Martin scorseces great made film with good old 90s audio and picture
By funentertainment (44 reviews) , 17 Feb 2013Casino 1995 has an great audio , and classic 90s picture its all done with the 90s goods and this makes a very well realistic film .This mafia adaption focuses on a casino in las vagas with Joe pesci, rodert den niro, Sharon stone. Stones acting talent is great and all the actors are portrayed in depth and realism and about gambling . Casino is not every ones cup of tea Scorsese opens the violence like any other director in the 90s . Sheer perfection no matter how its told .18 certificate this rich film is explored like in a violent nature and is more brutal than the events . Viewers may find disturbing in violence and torched scenes , explication brutal violence , language and graphic strong sex . An total explication content rating 30 / 100 . Disturbing . 18 CERTIFICATE . if a film gets 100 for explication violence its either sick or out to be banned.- Was this review helpful to you?

Money money money
By gianino (618 reviews) from London , 27 Feb 2012The cast is of course awesome so it's the director. However, the big surprise is Sharon Stone as she really did a brilliant performance. She is normally just a pretty lady but not much more. However, in Casino she is wicked. De Niro & Pesci are incredible and Scorsese is always the perfect key to a great movie. The usual mob cliches but it works pretty well.- Was this review helpful to you?
