THIS FILM DOSE NOT DESERVE 5 STARS...
By Jacqueline Atkins from Ramsgate, England , 05 Jun 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
...It deserves 20. A great film all round. It is a truely amazing film about survival on a deserted island. It is not that farfetched. I was expecting some big animal to jump out but it was a very intelligent film and some scenes were quite horrific. Tom Hank's best film. Helen Hunt gave a great preformance also. It is not just a guy with a beird talking to a ball as some have written. A true classic and everyone must see it.- Was this review helpful to you?

(118)DIDNT WANT THE FILM TO END! MUST SEE...
By a customer , 09 May 2013excellent film, tom hanks played the role brilliantly, even tho it was ment to be sad in some parts i found myself laughing when hes talking to his ball and got a lump in my throat towards the end . so the film makes you laugh 1 minute then sad the next ... good balance, great film!- Was this review helpful to you?

Fantastic watch.
By a customer , 27 Feb 2013I initially rented this film after reading an article that stated that the idea of Lost was (in the VERY beginning) born out of the interest in this film and the desire to make a series out of this idea (lost obviously then went a bit sci fi) but, as a fan of Lost, I thought Cast away was worth a go, and I'm so glad I did! Amazing film, pure amazing, I was slightly unsure of how it was going to go what with there only being one character for 90% of the film but Tom Hanks was fantastic! I did find the actual crash quite harrowing though, as I felt it was a lot more realistic than others I've seen. One *tiny* niggle? Helen Hunt, not my favourite actress and this film did not change my mind on her at all, but she wasn't in it for long so I can get past that! WATCH IT WATCH IT WATCH IT!- Was this review helpful to you?

Engaging, thoughtful and mostly believable...
By SiSlayRD500 (132 reviews) from Solihull , 24 Feb 2013I found this to be engaging, thoughtful and mostly believable. It is a bit slow, but this is made up for by the story as a whole and as one has come to expect from Tom Hanks, his acting is excellent - in fact, if his role had been portrayed by another actor this film would probably not have been as good. OK so there are a few things/ parts you could be too 'critique' about etc, but I think this would be unfair as overall it's a very good film. Don't bother watching if you're expecting a pacy type of film, that it's not, but for those who enjoy a (mostly) thought out and well told story with the bonus of good acting... then this is for you.- Was this review helpful to you?
